Weaving Yogic Philosophy into Class

Living Peace Yoga 2/20 The Boulevarde, Toronto, New South Wales, Australia

Enriching a yoga asana class by weaving philosophy and symbology can be stimulating and educative for both the teacher and the student. It also exposes the students to the incredible depth and breadth of yoga and reminds them that yoga is so much more than just asana.

Patanjali's Yoga Sutras supply us with the ethical guidelines of a yogi who is living a yogic life, a life filled with integrity, honesty, consideration and kindness for all beings. We will explore the first two limbs of Ashtanga Yoga, the Yamas and Niyamas, as well as other major concepts from the Sutras which are perfect to weave throughout a class. These concepts can be related to how we practice asana and how we can translate it into our daily lives. We will also explore a few concepts from the magnificent text, The Bhagavad Gita.

Living Peace Kirtan @ The Yoga Place Blacksmiths

The Yoga Place 6 Mitti St, Blacksmiths, New South Wales, Australia

Join us for an evening of Kirtan/chanting at The Yoga Place, Blacksmiths!
Kirtan is the sacred and ancient tradition of chanting mantras in call and response style. It is a beautiful, heart-opening experience and a great way to meditate as it gives your body something to do (e.g. chant), and gives your mind something to focus on (e.g. the music and the mantra) and therefore the practice can quickly help to quiet the mind.

A Path Home – Karma, Dharma and the Will

Living Peace Yoga 2/20 The Boulevarde, Toronto, New South Wales, Australia

This workshop will help us to find the blue prints for this life. It will give us a fix on our current position and a clear route home to our inherent nature. Having a more complete, truthful and unclouded understanding of the nature of this birth sets us up to vanquish ripe karma, unfurl an impeccable dharma and remove the unhelpful samskaras of this incarnation.

The Heart of Hanuman

Living Peace Yoga 2/20 The Boulevarde, Toronto, New South Wales, Australia

Who better to lead a course on the devotional and cheeky Hindu deity, Hanuman, than our very own, Hanuman Das (Greg Clarke's spiritual name meaning "Servant of Hanuman").
Hanuman is one of the main characters in the ancient text, The Ramayana, and even one of our yoga asanas is named after Him (Hanumanasana). So, who is this character? How does He relate to our modern lifestyle? And how can He help us live more fully with devotion and love for the divine?

Anatomy for Yogis Copy

Living Peace Yoga 2/20 The Boulevarde, Toronto, New South Wales, Australia

This course is for any yoga teacher or experienced yogi wanting to know what is happening to the body while moving in yoga asanas. During the 2 days we will learn about musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology in order to feel the body from the inside out. If we follow the osteopathic principle, structure governs function, we realise that we need to look at our bones and joints to understand movement.

Change Your Attitude, Change Your Life

Living Peace Yoga 2/20 The Boulevarde, Toronto, New South Wales, Australia

Our attitude affects the way we encounter the day, it affects our karma, our communication and our joy or suffering in each moment. Setting our attitude gives the mind a bedrock intention for how we want to engage in incarnation people.

Yoga Nidra – Relaxation and Beyond

Living Peace Yoga 2/20 The Boulevarde, Toronto, New South Wales, Australia

"Yoga Nidra" is a technique often used in yoga classes to induce deep body-mind relaxation. However, this practice provides so much more than just relaxation. Its ultimate goal is to increase self-awareness, to eliminate old habitual patterns and potentially, experiencing states of higher consciousness.

In this workshop, we will spend time practising the techniques that uncover this deep relaxation and the state of ease in mind and body. We will study the philosophy behind Yoga Nidra and we will explore the sub-conscious mind that Yoga Nidra unveils.
