Yoga for Self-Care

January 22 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Self-care is defined by the term itself – caring for yourself. It can take many forms but essentially includes all you do to stay healthy from a physical, mental and spiritual perspective. Often self-care is sacrificed when life becomes busy and stressful as it can seem indulgent. Caring for yourself is not self-indulgent, it is self-preservation.

Here’s why you should care about self-care: it’s GOOD for you, especially in managing stress. Chronic stress is fast becoming one of the biggest threats to our overall health and self-care strategies, particularly exercise and meditation can help curb this. Taking care of yourself has many other benefits as well as it FEELS good! When was the last time you took some time to feel good? This workshop will provide you with techniques to reflect, examine and replace.

Angelique invites you to discover the many benefits of self-care as we explore:

  • What is self-care?
  • The impact of stress on the brain
  • 8 dimensions of wellness
  • Yoga techniques including asana (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), dhyana (meditation) to cultivate self-care
  • A specific yoga technique to overcome inherent negative thinking and emotions
  • AND we will create our own self-care plan to implement the techniques into daily life.

“If dealing with those who are undergoing great suffering, if you feel ‘burnout’ setting in, if you feel demoralised and exhausted, it is best, for the sake of everyone, to withdraw and restore yourself. The point is to have a long-term perspective”- Dalai Lama
