SUMMARY:Introduction to Yoga Therapy
DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Yoga Therapy for Yoga Teachers\n\nDates: 6 x Mondays\, once a month: Feb 19th\, Mar 18th\, Apr 15th\, May 20th\, June 17th\, July 15th\nTime: 11:00am – 2pm\nPrice: $680 (includes comprehensive notes)\nNOTE: The classes will be recorded and you can do the course ONLINE if that is your preference. You can join via ZOOM and/or receive the recorded video the day after the live event.\n\n\nThis course is specifically for yoga teachers where Ginny will share the basics of Yoga Therapy\, so that when a student comes to class with a particular issue\, you are well equipped to handle it in class. This information will help you teach more effectively and safely for a vast array of bodies in your class too. This course will not qualify you as a Yoga Therapist\, but it will give you a good grounding in how to handle some of the more common issues. We will review therapy for: \n\n\n\nThe lumber spine\nThe thoracic spine\nThe cervical spine\nThe shoulders\nThe hips\nAnxiety and depression.\n\n\n\nWhat is Yoga Therapy?\nAlthough all yoga is potentially therapeutic and healing\, yoga therapy is the specific application of yogic tools—asana\, pranayama\, meditation\, philosophy\, and more—to address an individual’s physical\, mental\, and emotional needs. \nThis training will review general anatomy\, the common issues you might encounter with students and ways to keep an injured student safe during class and potentially\, even help them to manage their issue. Some of the techniques for yoga therapy can be merged into a normal yoga class\, helping ALL students maintain healthy functional movement and strength and knowledge about their body and mind and how to help themselves. \nAs yoga teachers\, we are not doctors\, physios or psychologists\, so it is not up to us to diagnose or label the student’s issue. Instead we can work with the general function of the body. Our goal is to restore the overall function of that body part\, e.g. reduce pain\, unlock a knee\, improve shoulder mobility\, strengthen the back\, etc. We can also teach students how to feel into their body again. Ganesh Mohan said\, “The more you can\nfeel\, the more you can change”. Therefore\, encouraging students to notice what they are experiencing\, is a huge step towards healing. Knowing what causes pain\, knowing what provides relief\, knowing what a well aligned body feels like\, noticing when there is tension\, observing the sensation of relaxation – these are all skills which can be cultivated in any yoga class by a good yoga teacher. \n  \n\nFacilitator: Ginny Clarke is a devoted\, senior yoga teacher and yoga therapist and co-owner of Living Peace Yoga. She has been teaching yoga since 2002 and her passion is to help people know their bodies intimately and work towards healing mind\, body and spirit through the vast array of techniques and wisdom which yoga offers. Ginny has been leading Yoga Teacher Trainings since 2016 and has mentored yoga teachers through the ups and downs of this rewarding and challenging life path of being a teacher.\n\n\n\nBuy Now – In Studio \n\nBuy Now – Online \n

SUMMARY:Yogic Bandhas
DESCRIPTION:Date: Sunday 15th October\, 2023\nTime: 7am – 10am\nPrice: $75 \nOne of the aims of Hatha Yoga is to expand\, direct & contain the prana within. This is done through a variety of techniques\, particularly\, the Bandhas. \nBandhas are energetic locks which can be used in asana\, pranayama and meditation. \nOn a physical level\, the bandhas can help with circulation of blood and lymph\, control of abdominal muscles\, loosen connective tissue\, massage internal organs\, as well as aid in digestion. \nOn a mental level\, they help with concentration\, clarity and discipline. \nBut really\, the bandhas work on an energetic level; they clear and channel the prana\, releasing blocks so prana flows freely and leave you feeling revitalized. \nThis workshop will provide simple\, effective\, practical and powerful ways to learn the 3 main bandhas: Jalandhara Bandha (chin lock)\, Uddiyana Bandha (abdominal lock) and Moolabandha (root lock). \nYou will learn how to do each bandha separately\, how to link them with the breath\, how they are used in asana and how to do all three locks simultaneously (Maha Bandha & Maha Mudra). \nNOTE: Uddiyana Bandha must be done on an empty stomach….that’s why the workshop starts at 7am 🙂 \n  \nFacilitator: Ginny Clarke is a devoted\, senior yoga teacher and yoga therapist and co-owner of Living Peace Yoga. The sessions will be powerful practices to liberate us from unhelpful\, untrue\, and unwise thinking.\n\nEvery moment in history has been a good time to sit and still the mind\, but this may be one of the most pertinent periods of human history. Cleaning and calming the instrument of incarnation (the mind) at this time would serve the few and the many\, would decrease unnecessary suffering and increase joy. Getting this mind to serve us rather than disturb us is as worthy an undertaking as is conceivable.\n\nHeavily Meditated is designed to:\n• Clean the mind.\n• Calm the mind.\n• Clear the mind.\n• Serve the Soul.\n• Meditation unveils and releases Love.\n• Facilitates control of the Ego and senses.\n• Deepens connection with our true nature.\n• Deepens our connection with family\, friends and even those we disagree with.\n\n\n  \nFacilitator: Hanuman Das (Greg Clarke) is a respected teacher and author in the field of spiritual living. SUMMARY:The Embodied Breath Immersion with Paul Wooden
DESCRIPTION:Explorations of the inner architecture of energy in yoga practice.\n\nJoin special guest teacher (and Ginny’s teacher) Paul Wooden for the embodied breath workshop which is an intimate exploration of the whole field of yoga practice where we learn to harness the subtle energetic dynamics of our body\, our feeling\, our mind and beyond.\n\nWe access prana\, or our subtle life energy\, by feeling it. SUMMARY:Swaha Special Event - Yoga & Live Music
DESCRIPTION:Join Ginny Clarke\, Angelique Pratten and Cass Campbell\, aka “Swaha”\, for an afternoon of yoga\, mantra\, music and magic! \nWe begin with a gentle and nourishing yoga class infused with live music and mantras and then finish with meditation and chanting\, singing and kirtan. Leave feeling uplifted\, enchanted and enriched with the vibration of love and peace. \nSinging and chanting can be a beautiful\, heart-opening experience and is a great way to meditate as it gives your body something to do (e.g. chant)\, and gives your mind something to focus on (e.g. the music and the mantra) and therefore the practice can quickly help to quiet the mind. \nIt is joyful\, calming and invigorating as the live music and mantras allow you to flow with the melody and rhythm. It is a united event where the leaders of the chant and the participants merge as one. It really doesn’t matter if you can sing or not…the sound comes from the heart\, not the vocal chords! \n\n\nDate: Sunday 24th January 2021\nTime: 2:30 – 5:30pm\nAddress: Living Peace Yoga\, 2/20 The Boulevarde\, Toronto\nPrice: $45 LIMITED TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE. Bookings are required.\n\n\n** Copies of our debut album – “Offering” – will be available in the form of CDs and USBs **\n\n\n\nBuy Now \n\n  \nCancellation Policy: A full refund will be granted if cancelled more than 7 days before the event.
